How to capture the right feel for your car company logo

By British Design Experts

Whether you are the owner of a car dealership, a car rental service company, a driving school or any other car company you’ll want to know how to accurately convey your business in your company logo.

You want a car logo that stands out from the competition, communicates your message and persuades potential customers to give you a call to get a quote.

Every small business sector has a unique range of semantic associations which can be conjured by a designer.

So let’s dive into the specifics of what to think about if you want to design a small business car logo.

The important things that always apply

First things first, let’s do an overview of what you always need to think about before writing any logo design brief.

  1. Look at other car logos. What is your competition doing?
  2. Think about your brand. What do you stand for? What is your unique offering to customers?
  3. What do you want people to think when they look at your logo?

Ok, so now we’ve gone over the basics, let’s look at how they fit into your customer’s expectations of what a business in your industry looks like.

Car logo Fonts

Car logo fonts are quite often sharp and strong. It’s also quite common for them to have a metallic sheen. Serif fonts and Sans Serif fonts both work well.

Of course fonts can be used to convey a wide variety of different emotions. You could choose to use a script font for a luxurious feel, or a grunge font for something more gritty. Don’t be afraid to experiment with different font options.

Car logo Icon options

As you might expect, most car company logos do have a car included on them – it is the quickest and easiest way to tell your audience what you do. However, try to avoid just having a generic car as you may be in danger of going down a clichéd design path. Being specific and nuanced is the best way to really convey the personality of your business.

If your company was going to be ‘personified’ as a particular brand and model of car what would it be and why?

And of course there are lots of other routes that you could explore in terms of visual imagery related to your business. Try getting some inspiration from some unusual places.

Car logo colours

Car logos often use quite strong colours. Greens, blues, reds, black and orange are all common. But it’s a really good idea to think carefully about the impact that colour has on your logo. Check out our infographic and see which colours match your personality and values – it can be very effective to choose something different so you stand out from the crowd.

Don’t be afraid to buck the trends

You aren’t defined by your sector, or what your competitors do. Stay true to yourself. Communicate as much detail about what you do and who you are to your designer
